Chung C. Seto

Chung Seto is a veteran political and strategic consultant most recognized for her prior work with the National and New York State Democratic Committee and with electing the first Asian American to a citywide office in the City of New York and the first Asian American to represent Chinatown in the State Assembly. The diversity of her clientele spans across local, state, and federal Democratic campaigns, non-profit and private sector organizations, and government and community affairs.

Chung’s staunched support of women’s and immigrants’ issues, social, racial, and economic justice is reflected in the non-profit clients she has served. This commitment keeps Chung firmly connected to the core of her clients she represents and helps to inspire the support of donors and funders.

In 2013, Chung was campaign manager for John C. Liu, the first Asian American candidate for Mayor in New York City. In 2009, Chung served in a similar capacity leading the campaign team to the landmark victory that elected Liu as New York City Comptroller, the first Asian American to citywide office. When Liu was thrust in the spotlight to run for State Senate in 2018, he called Chung to advise his campaign, and Liu made history again being the first Chinese American elected to the State Senate. Chung while serving as senior advisor Congressmember Grace Meng, managed the Congressmember’s successful election as Vice Chair of the DNC.

Chung served as the New York State Democratic Committee Executive Director from 2001 to 2005, the first Asian American to serve in that capacity. She also served as the Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee’s APA Leadership Council. In 2002, the Democratic National Committee’s Women’s Vote Center honored Chung as a rising star in the Democratic Party and her leadership when it presented her with its first ever Eleanor Roosevelt award. Chung is a founding member, along with Judith Hope, of the Eleanor Roosevelt Legacy Committee, a political action committee that seeks to increase women’s participation in New York with training and financial grants. Chung refers to Eleanor’s Legacy as the best farm team in politics.
